Combined Autism & ADHD Assessments
Understanding Autism and ADHD
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that leads to differences in how children communicate, interact socially, and process the world around them. Every autistic child is unique.
ADHD is different neurodevelopmental condition that can impact attention, impulse control, and activity levels. Children with ADHD may struggle with focus, fidgeting, and acting without thinking.
When autism and ADHD co-occur, children may experience a blend of different challenges and strengths across both areas.
Our Assessment Approach
At White Oaks, we offer a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary assessment process based on NICE and best-practice guidelines. Our goal is to understand your child’s profile in depth—whether or not a diagnosis is made—and to provide clear, actionable recommendations.
We begin with a pre-assessment phase to determine whether a full autism and/or ADHD assessment is appropriate.
This includes:
-
A parent consultation
-
Screening questionnaires (e.g. Conners forms) completed by both parents and school
-
A collaborative decision about the most suitable assessment pathway
What’s Included in a Full Assessment
If a full combined assessment is recommended, it includes the following components:
-
DIVA Interview: Structured parent interview exploring ADHD traits
-
DISCO Interview: In-depth autism-focused diagnostic interview with parents
-
QB Check: A computer-based test measuring attention and impulse control
-
ADOS-2: A play-based assessment exploring social communication and behaviour
-

-
Comprehensive Report: Includes diagnostic conclusions and tailored recommendations
-
Follow-Up Consultation: A complimentary session to discuss the report and next steps
Aftercare and Support
We’re here for you beyond the diagnosis. Our team will help you prioritise recommendations and explore therapeutic options, such as support to learn about diagnosis, cope with anxiety, or sensory needs. If medication is being considered, we can explore suitable referral routes via either the NHS or private service.
